The Swinging door plastic is the white plastic flap that sits in the flap of a cage front. It closes the opening in which the small dish hangs, so the front stays closed when you are not feeding.
A small spring behind it pushes the flap back into place every time. If a flap gets damaged, you replace just that flap instead of the whole front.
