Lutein is a natural pigment that strengthens the yellow colour factor in canaries and other yellow birds. It gives a lively, deep and even yellow in the new plumage.
You give it during the moult, when the new feathers are formed. That is the only moment the colour can still be influenced: once a feather is there, it no longer changes.
Dissolve the lutein in warm water until nothing is left at the bottom, and then mix that solution thoroughly through dry egg food.
