There is no round drilled hole at the front: the woodwork leaves a straight, rectangular opening free. Under it a wooden perch sticks out: the bird lands on it and steps inside from there.
The flap on top opens completely and stays attached to the box, so you can check the nest or clean the box without taking it down. The box has a small hole for hanging it up. This medium size is taller than the small models no. 1 and no. 2.
