There is no round drilled hole at the front: the woodwork leaves a straight, rectangular opening free. Just under the opening is a small wooden step where the bird settles before going in.
The flap on top opens completely and stays attached to the box, so you can check the nest or clean the box without taking it down. The box has a small hole for hanging it up. A compact box with a sloping roof.
